Naturism is closer to the Native American's philosophy of total harmony with the world around us than we have been since before we started breaking treaties with them...perhaps ever! It is not a new concept - it goes back to the Garden of Eden. Back to a child-like innocence when we believed in the basic goodness of humanity, and we trusted our fellow man. Anybody who believes that naturism is a threat to family values or represents a decay in basic morality has the opposite perspective from reality. Forcing people to cover up, and teaching them to be ashamed of their bodies only plays into the hands of the pornographers and the sex-for-profit moguls. It turns nudity into the "forbidden fruit" that makes it so titillating, so desirable...and so profitable. By bringing it out into the open, accepting our own bodies and those of others as natural, it takes the "thrill" out of "peeking". Nudity becomes commonplace and thus loses the "uniqueness" that allows the smut purveyors to charge for it. As for allowing children to enter "that environment"- nothing could be safer, healthier, or more natural for them. There is a long list of social workers, psychologists, and ministers that proclaim children raised in a nudist environment are more stable, well-rounded, and healthy than those raised in an environment of shame and guilt. The naturist environment is very protective and nurturing of children. Since children grow up with a healthier attitude, you will not see them carrying weapons to school, using drugs, or joining gangs that encourage them to do so. In short, the very thing that communities try to shut down to "protect" their children is what would give them their best shot at a balanced and happy life. Don't get me wrong, just taking the clothes off does not make every child an angel...there is diversity of bad with the good wherever you go; but the naturist environment encourages and fosters proper behaviors while discouraging improper behavior more effectively than D.A.R.E or any other well-intentioned program.
How Fast Can YOU Cover Up? I am a big fan of kilts, partly because of my Scottish heritage, but also because they are so comfortable. There are many types of kilts, as well as a great price range, but for naturists the one that can't be beaten is a Sport Kilt. It is a timelessly classic garment that can be put on and, more importantly, taken off in a matter of seconds. It wraps around and fastens very securely with Velcro and even has a small, handy pocket under the front apron. Let's face it, if you are out hiking a trail "au naturel" and need to don a garment quickly, unless you are really proficient at wrapping a towel around yourself, you can probably put a Sport Kilt on faster and not look suspiciously like you just stepped out of the shower. Besides, a Sport Kilt is a legitimate piece of clothing! I have had mine for several years and couldn't be happier with it. They have a vast selection of models and absolutely beautiful tartans and patterns to choose from. Do yourself a favor and check them out. Simply click on the banner to the left to visit their site. If you find one you cannot live without, please tell them that I referred you to them. Have a bonnie day out on the trails! P.S. Although a top would have to be added, Sport Kilt also makes kilts for women.
The SAFE Answer to a Naturist's Skin Care Concerns
Since we seem to thrive in a very harsh environment, most of us have probably worried about our skin from time to time. Most sunscreens block UVB rays, but do little or nothing for the more harmful UVA rays which cause cancer. Even with a good sun block, our skin tends to dry out and get leathery. Sure you can find all kinds of creams and lotions, but have you ever read the label to see what is REALLY in them? You’d be surprised how many products we use every day that contain dangerous chemicals and/or have unwanted side effects.
Scuba as Nature Intended
The Naturist Society (TNS) has a special interest group (SIG) called "Buff Divers". They are a club that regularly travels to sites in the Caribbean where they can dive and frolic to their heart's content.....naturally.

"Hey gang, I've just added this link that anybody lucky enough to be planning a vacation/business trip to Spain would most likely be interested in. The place looks spectacular and has loads of great activities. Overlooking one naturist beach with several others close by, you can go out in their inflatable for a boat ride, snorkel, or they can arrange a scuba trip for you ( can you say 'Yaaaaay'?). I've 'met' the owner through a naturist forum...they seem like great people. Even if you don't think you'll be heading that way anytime soon, add the link to your favorites because you never know..."
Please! Please!
Thank you for participating in my poll.
